Overview
Overview
The Golden Catch Aji Sabiki S305 Green Glow Size 8 is a ready-tied sea fishing rig built for targeting smaller shoaling saltwater species. It features five dressed hooks spaced along a 120cm mainline, each attached via a short 3cm hooklength, with fine 0.25mm diameter line used throughout for both the mainline and hooklengths.
Part of the Golden Catch Aji Sabiki range, the S305 stands out through its Green Glow colour pattern - a distinctive alternative to the brand's plain feather, natural fish-skin and multicoloured sabiki rigs. This glow-style dressing is confirmed in Golden Catch's own catalogue, giving anglers a genuine point of difference when selecting a presentation for changing light and water conditions.
Supplied ready-tied as a single complete rig, it removes the need to assemble individual hooklengths and dressed hooks, making it a straightforward addition to a light saltwater tackle box.
Perfect For
The S305 is aimed at anglers targeting horse mackerel (scad) and garfish, both listed by Golden Catch as intended species for this rig, with bluefish also mentioned in the manufacturer's catalogue.
Its five-hook arrangement is particularly suited to shoaling fish, allowing several dressed hooks to be presented through different depths of the water column during a single retrieve. This makes it a useful option when fishing from piers, harbour walls, or suitable boat marks where horse mackerel and garfish are known to shoal.
Because the rig uses fine 0.25mm line, it is better suited to controlled, lighter saltwater fishing than to heavy-duty mackerel feathering or deliberately targeting larger predatory species.
Technical Insight
The S305's defining feature is its Green Glow dressing, identified by Golden Catch as a distinct glow-style pattern rather than a plain green sabiki. This offers anglers a different visual cue underwater compared with conventional white feathers or natural fish-skin presentations, which can be worth trying in lower-light conditions or when fish are showing little interest in standard patterns.
The five size 8 hooks, each on a compact 3cm hooklength, are spaced along the 120cm mainline to create multiple presentation points without excessive bulk. Combined with the fine 0.25mm mainline and hooklength diameter, this construction keeps the rig light and relatively unobtrusive, suiting smaller-mouthed shoaling species rather than heavier feathering aimed at bigger mackerel or predatory fish.

Does the Golden Catch S305 actually glow, and does it need charging with a torch?
Golden Catch's catalogue identifies the S305 as a Green Glow pattern, so the glow designation is supported by manufacturer documentation. However, the exact glowing component, brightness and duration are not specified by the manufacturer. Glow materials commonly need exposure to light before use, but no charging procedure has been published for this rig, so you shouldn't assume a specific glow duration or performance level.
When should I choose the S305 Green Glow instead of the F405 Multicolor or FS105 Natural?
These Golden Catch sabiki rigs offer different visual presentations - the S305 has a green glow pattern, the F405 uses a multicoloured design, and the FS105 features natural fish skin. There's no verified evidence that one consistently outfishes the others, but having different patterns lets you experiment as light conditions, water clarity and feeding behaviour change. The S305 is especially worth trying when a glow-style presentation is wanted.
Can I use the S305 to catch livebait for larger predatory fish?
Sabiki rigs are commonly used to catch small baitfish, and the S305's five small hooks make it a potential option where suitable baitfish are present, though anglers must check local rules before retaining or using live fish as bait. The rig's fine 0.25mm line isn't designed for deliberately targeting large predatory fish, so it should be used to catch appropriately sized small fish rather than as a heavy-duty predator rig.
