Golden Catch Aji Sabiki S205 Pink5 Hook, Size 8

Overview

Overview

The Golden Catch Aji Sabiki S205 is a ready-made sabiki rig designed for sea anglers who want a quick, no-tie solution for targeting shoaling fish. This size 8 version comes dressed with five pink attractor hooks spaced along a 120cm mainline, giving a compact multi-hook presentation that mimics small bait fish moving through the water.

Both the mainline and the 3cm hook branches are made from 0.25mm diameter line, keeping the rig neat and manageable whether it's being lowered from a boat or cast out from a pier. Golden Catch doesn't publish a confirmed breaking strain for this exact size, so the diameter shouldn't be read as a guaranteed pound-test rating - pair it with suitable leader and terminal tackle for the conditions.

As part of Golden Catch's wider saltwater sabiki range, the S205 is also available in hook sizes 6, 10 and 12, each sharing the same 120cm length, 0.25mm lines and pink dressings, alongside a longer ten-hook S2010 version for anglers who want more hooks on the water.

Perfect For

This five-hook sabiki rig suits anglers fishing from piers, harbour walls, suitable shore marks and boats who want to target shoaling species feeding on small prey. Golden Catch's published target species for the S205 include horse mackerel, garfish and bluefish, and in UK waters the rig is also worth trying for mackerel and herring.

The compact 120cm length and five-hook arrangement make it more manageable than the longer ten-hook S2010, particularly when working the rig vertically around a boat or retrieving it along a pier wall. It's a practical choice for anglers who want a ready-rigged option without the hassle of tying multiple dressed hooks themselves.

Technical Insight

The S205's size 8 hooks are mounted on individual 3cm branches, positioning each dressed hook away from the 120cm mainline so they can move independently as the rig is worked. This creates several visual targets moving through the water column at once, rather than a single static bait, which is the basic principle behind sabiki-style fishing for shoaling species.

The pink dressing gives anglers an alternative presentation to the more common white, green and multicoloured sabiki finishes, useful for varying what's being offered to fish on a given day. Because the mainline and branches share the same 0.25mm diameter, the rig keeps a consistent, low-diameter profile throughout, which helps the dressed hooks sit and move naturally rather than being restricted by heavier branch lines.
