Overview

The INOVA Tinsel Teaser is a ready-tied 4-hook mackerel rig built to create maximum flash and movement in the water. Officially known as the Tinsel Teaser Trace 4 Hook (product code 200095), it's one of INOVA's conventional mackerel traces rather than a Sabiki-style string.

Each of the four size 1/0 hooks is dressed with a highly reflective silver tinsel/flasher material, giving the rig an eye-catching, flickering presentation as it's worked through the water column.

The trace is constructed using a sturdy 50lb mainline with 30lb snoods, giving anglers a robust, no-nonsense rig for general mackerel fishing that holds up to repeated casting and retrieving.

Perfect For

This rig is aimed primarily at mackerel and pollack, with INOVA's catalogue also listing it among traces suitable for cod, haddock, wrasse, gurnards and ling.

It's suitable for both shore fishing — from beaches, rocks, piers and harbour walls where feathering is appropriate — and for working vertically from a boat. For species such as gurnard, cod and bream it can also be fished on the bottom with bait added to the hooks.

Technical Insight

The defining feature of the Tinsel Teaser is the sheer volume of reflective tinsel/flasher dressing wrapped around each hook, which produces plenty of flash and visual disturbance to draw in mackerel and pollack as the rig is lifted and retrieved through the water.

The heavier 50lb mainline and 30lb snoods make this a noticeably sturdier setup than lighter small-hook Sabiki-style mackerel feathers, giving it the strength needed for a standard shore or boat mackerel string worked ahead of a lead weight.
