Overview

The Kamasan B982 X-Strong Specimen Eyed is a hook pattern built for anglers who need serious strength from a compact design. It takes the general proportions and round bend of Kamasan's B980 pattern but steps up to a substantially heavier, high-carbon wire with forged construction for extra durability.

Each hook features a short shank, needle point and an offset/reversed point alignment, all finished with chemical sharpening for reliable penetration straight from the packet. The eyed, barbed design makes it a dependable choice wherever a small but exceptionally strong hook is called for.

The B982 is sold in packs of 10 and spans an unusually wide size range, from the larger size 2 down to the tiny size 20, giving anglers flexibility across very different styles of fishing.

Perfect For

The larger sizes — 2, 4, 6 and 8 — suit light sea-fishing presentations where a compact but strong hook is needed, making them a practical option within a general sea fishing hook box.

The smaller sizes, from 10 down to 20, are well suited to LRF and mini-species fishing. Although originally developed as a freshwater specimen/coarse pattern, the smaller B982 sizes have been specifically noted as usable for sea-fishing mini species, bridging the gap between coarse and light saltwater work.

Technical Insight

The step up from the B980's standard wire to the B982's heavy-gauge high-carbon wire, combined with forged construction, is what gives this pattern its extra strength without increasing the overall hook size. This makes it useful wherever a stronger hook is wanted but a large hook profile isn't practical.
