Sakuma Bendies

Overview

Sakuma Bendies are a flexible rig boom / anti-tangle component designed for sea-fishing rig building. Supplied as pre-formed flexible plastic tubes, they're used with swivels to hold a hook snood away from the main rig body.

Unlike a conventional rigid boom, which is typically a stiff tube or wire component, a Bendie performs the same anti-tangle job while staying flexible throughout the rig. This gives the finished rig more movement and lets the hook snood swing more freely.

Each pack contains 10 clear/translucent Bendies, making them a simple, inexpensive addition to any sea angler's rig-building kit for both shore and boat applications.

Perfect For

Bendies are particularly suited to flatfish rigs, where several baits are often presented close together near the seabed and tangle-free presentation matters. They also work well in flapper-style rigs, helping to separate individual snoods from the rig body.

For boat anglers running multi-hook rigs, Bendies help prevent snoods tangling around the main trace during descent. They're equally useful on species or scratching rigs where multiple small baits are fished on one trace, and anywhere natural bait movement is wanted.

Technical Insight

The core design principle is simple: rig body → swivel → Bendie → hook snood. By inserting a Bendie between the swivel and the snood, the snood is held away from the main rig body, reducing the chance of it wrapping around the trace during casting or fishing.

Because the Bendie itself stays flexible rather than rigid, it allows the hook snood more freedom of movement than a traditional boom would. This is especially valuable on multi-hook rigs, where several snoods need to avoid tangling with each other as well as with the main line.
