Mighty Bright Reflective Rod Tip Tape is a self-adhesive reflective tape designed specifically for fishing rod tips, helping anglers spot bites more easily after dark. Made in the United Kingdom and distributed by Breakaway Tackle, it's supplied in narrow, pre-cut strips that wrap neatly around a rod tip without bulky overlap.

Unlike ordinary wide reflective tape, Mighty Bright is cut to a slim 5mm width, allowing a spiral application that preserves the natural flex of the rod tip. Each packet contains four strips, available in standard and premium lengths, so anglers can choose the amount of tape that suits their rod and fishing style.

Because the tape is purely reflective rather than light-emitting, it needs no batteries, cables or switches - it simply bounces back light from a headtorch or other beam, giving a bright, battery-free way to keep an eye on rod tips through the night.

Technical Insight

The retroreflective finish works by bouncing a headtorch or lamp beam straight back towards the angler, rather than glowing independently like a photoluminescent material - so visibility depends on a light source being directed at it. The narrow 5mm strip width is a deliberate design choice: spiralling a slim strip around the tip, rather than applying a single wide band, avoids restricting the natural movement of a flexible rod tip while still giving a clearly visible reflective pattern.
