Abu Garcia Bombarda Slow sinking

Overview

The Abu Garcia Bombarda Slow Sinking is a clear casting float designed to help anglers cast very lightweight flies and lures far beyond what the lure's own weight would normally allow. Unlike the white Floating Bombarda, this Intermediate version is built to slowly sink below the surface rather than sit on top of the water.

It's made from solid polytip resin, a construction method confirmed by retailer specifications for the wider Bombarda range, and is supplied as a single unit per pack. The clear, transparent body also makes it far less visible in the water than the opaque floating alternative.

This design is used with conventional spinning tackle, with the Bombarda itself providing the casting mass needed to launch a small lure or fly, rather than relying on the presentation being heavy enough to cast on its own.

Perfect For

Abu Garcia specifically highlights Bombarda fishing as effective from the coast, where extra casting distance is often needed to reach fish holding further out than a standard light lure or fly could normally be cast.

Because it sinks slowly rather than floating, it suits anglers who want their lure or fly working just below the surface and through the subsurface layers, rather than skimming along the top. It's particularly relevant for lure and fly presentations fished on spinning rods in coastal and shore situations.

Technical Insight

The solid polytip resin build gives the float the durability and casting mass needed to transfer energy efficiently through a long cast, while the clear body keeps the rig discreet to approaching fish. The slow-sinking behaviour, as opposed to the Floating version's surface presentation, lets the lure or fly settle gradually into the water column.

This makes the Intermediate version a practical choice when fish are feeding below the surface but the lure or fly being used is too light to cast or fish effectively on its own, with the Bombarda bridging that gap in casting weight.
