The SeaTech Sea Float Kit is a ready-to-use terminal tackle kit that gives shore anglers every component needed to build a sliding sea-fishing float rig. Rather than sourcing a float, weight, stops, beads, swivel and hooklength separately, the kit brings the principal parts together in one pack along with a setup diagram.
SeaTech's kits are sold in several verified configurations, including 12g, 23g, 28g and 35g versions, so there's a size to suit different casting requirements and conditions. The 12g and 23g versions are slim pencil-style floats, while the 28g and 35g options are standard, fatter-bodied floats offering more casting weight and stability.
Each float uses a bright, high-visibility tip, with documented colours including fluorescent yellow, red and orange, although colours can vary between packs. This makes bite detection straightforward even at range or in changeable light.
Perfect For
This kit is built around sliding float fishing for species such as mackerel, garfish, pollack, bass and wrasse, and is aimed at anglers fishing from piers, jetties, harbour walls and rock marks. It suits calmer or settled conditions, since maintaining good bait presentation with a float becomes much harder in heavy surf or strong wind and current.
Mackerel and garfish can be targeted by suspending a strip bait in the upper layers, while pollack can be fished deeper around rocky ground, piers and other structure. Wrasse can also be taken close to rocky structure, and bass can be float-fished around suitable shore marks too. Recommended baits include mackerel, sandeel, squid and prawns.
Because it's supplied as a complete, matched kit with an assembly diagram, it's particularly well suited to holiday anglers, juniors and anyone trying float fishing for the first time.
Technical Insight
The rig works on a sliding principle: the float isn't fixed to the mainline but slides freely until it meets the float stop, which is set at the required distance to control fishing depth. This lets you present bait at different depths without trailing metres of loose line beneath the float while casting - a real advantage from piers, rocks and harbour walls.
The matching drilled weight does two jobs: it adds enough casting mass to send the bait out, and it cocks the float correctly so the high-vis tip sits proud of the surface. Because the weight is drilled through, the mainline can pass through it as part of the sliding setup, while the beads protect the components and stop the float stop from slipping through the terminal tackle.
