Fladen Norden Casting / Pirk Lure300g - 170mm

Overview

The Fladen Norden 300g is a heavy metal pirk lure designed for sea anglers targeting predatory fish in deeper water. Measuring 170mm in length and weighing a substantial 300g, it is the heaviest documented version in Fladen's Norden range. Manufactured from non-toxic zinc rather than lead, it offers a dense, compact profile associated with traditional metal pirks while avoiding lead construction.

Built with a classic pirk shape, the Norden is designed to create an enticing darting and fluttering action as it's lifted and dropped through the water column. This lift-and-drop presentation is a proven technique for triggering strikes from predatory sea fish holding near structure or bait shoals. The lure is available in several colour finishes, from natural metallic Silver and Blue Flash through to higher-contrast Black Flash and Yellow/Red options.

Perfect For

This lure is particularly suited to boat anglers fishing over wrecks and other offshore marks, where a heavy, fast-sinking metal lure is needed to reach fish holding deep around structure. Glasgow Angling Centre identifies cod, ling and pollack as the primary target species for the Norden, making it a solid choice for wreck and reef marks known to hold these fish.

The 300g weight suits boat fishing situations where tide and depth demand a heavier pirk than lighter versions in the range can provide. Anglers should always ensure their rod and tackle are rated appropriately for a lure of this weight before casting or jigging with it.

Technical Insight

The Norden's non-toxic zinc construction gives it a dense, compact body that sinks quickly and holds its line well in tide, both useful qualities when working a lure vertically over a wreck. Its traditional pirk shape is designed specifically for the lift-and-drop jigging technique, letting anglers vary the speed and distance of each lift to experiment with different presentations and find what triggers a response on the day.

Offering multiple colour finishes means anglers can switch between natural metallic tones for clearer water and brighter, higher-contrast options such as Yellow/Red when fish need extra attraction in coloured or deeper water.
