Starlight Cliplight - Chemical Tip light

Overview

The Starlite Cliplight is a chemical rod-tip light built to give sea and shore anglers a clear visual bite indicator during night fishing sessions.

Rather than fitting a conventional glow stick into a separate holder, the Cliplight's plastic body is shaped so it clips straight onto the rod tip itself, with no separate holder or tape required. It's activated with a simple bend and shake, triggering a chemical reaction between two non-toxic chemicals inside the tube - there are no batteries, electronics or charging involved.

Because it relies purely on a chemical reaction, the Cliplight is single-use: once activated it glows continuously until the reaction runs its course and cannot be switched off and saved for a later session. It's supplied as one Cliplight per pack and produces a green/yellow-green glow.

Perfect For

The Cliplight is particularly suited to night sea fishing, beach fishing and shore fishing, where an angler may be watching one or more rod tips against a dark background. Clipped directly to the rod tip, movement caused by a bite becomes far easier to spot in low light or darkness than trying to watch an unlit tip.

Because it's chemical rather than electronic, it's a straightforward, low-maintenance option for anglers who want a bite indicator that needs no charging or batteries for an evening or overnight session.

Technical Insight

The glow is produced by two non-toxic, non-corrosive chemicals held inside the plastic tube, separated by a glass barrier. Bending the Cliplight breaks this internal barrier, allowing the chemicals to mix and react, which produces the glow - shaking helps the chemicals combine fully.

The Cliplight is available in five sizes - S, M, L, XL and XXL/3L - each corresponding to a specific rod tip diameter range from approximately 1.5mm up to 4.1mm, so the light physically clips securely around the tip rather than needing to be taped or held in place separately. On the current UK Starlite listing, the glow lasts at least 4 hours, making it suitable for a typical night fishing session.
