Sidewinder 4" sandeels 10g

Overview

The Sidewinder 4" Sandeel 10g is a pre-rigged soft plastic lure and the smallest version of Sidewinder's original Sandeel range. It measures approximately 4 inches / 10cm and weighs 10g, with four complete lures supplied per pack.

Each lure is built from a soft latex body around an internal weight, so there's no separate jig head to add. A holographic body insert/foil sits inside the lure, adding reflective flash beneath the soft outer body.

At the rear, a supple paddle tail reacts to water pressure during the retrieve, transmitting a lifelike swimming action and vibration through the soft body. This is the original Sidewinder Sandeel, distinct from the Skerries, Skerries Pro or Rattleback ranges, so it's worth checking you're ordering the correct pattern.

Perfect For

This 4"/10g size is particularly suited to lighter lure fishing rather than long-range casting, making it a good choice for rock marks, harbours, piers, estuaries, shallow reefs and beaches in suitable conditions. It works well cast from the shore for bass and pollack.

From a boat, the original Sandeel is well suited to drifting over wrecks and reefs, including use with a long flying-collar style rig, where the angler can vary retrieve speed and colour to find what the fish respond to. The compact size gives a smaller sandeel imitation for when fish are feeding on smaller prey, with bass, pollack and cod as the primary practical targets, and coalfish, mackerel and other predatory sea fish also worth targeting.

Technical Insight

Rather than using an exposed jig head, Sidewinder builds the weight directly into the soft latex body. This keeps the recognisable slim sandeel profile while still providing the mass needed to sink and help generate the paddle-tail's swimming action.

The lure arrives fully rigged with a Mustad hook already incorporated, so there's no assembly required — simply attach to your leader or clip, cast or lower, and fish. The internal holographic insert adds extra flash and visual attraction compared with a basic single-colour soft plastic, without any separate jig head or rigging needed.
