Sidewinder Skerries Pro 35g

Overview

The Sidewinder Skerries Pro 35g is a pre-rigged sandeel-style soft lure measuring 150mm / 6 inches, supplied as two complete lures per pack. It's the mid-sized model in Sidewinder's Skerries Pro range, sitting between the 22g and 55g versions.

The lure was developed by Sidewinder Lures in conjunction with John Locker of The Fish Locker, with around 12 months of development and testing behind the Skerries Pro range. It builds on the established Skerries sandeel, retaining the famous Skerries Eel swimming action.

The body is made from quality latex finished in Sidewinder's Shimmer Skin, giving a long, narrow sandeel profile with flexible movement. Each lure is pre-rigged with a Mustad hook and features an inbuilt Sonic Chamber with a micro rattle, adding an acoustic element to the presentation.

Perfect For

The 35g model is well suited to UK shore fishing situations where a lighter 20-25g lure doesn't provide enough casting mass or depth control, including rock marks, beaches, piers, harbour walls, estuaries and deeper shore marks.

It's also suitable for boat fishing, where its extra weight over the 22g version helps the lure descend through the water column and maintain depth, making it useful for light boat work and vertical fishing over reefs and wrecks.

Based on the lure type, size and current UK retailer positioning, practical target species include bass, pollack, coalfish and cod – particularly around deeper rocks, reefs and structure.

Technical Insight

The quality latex body and Shimmer Skin finish work together with the flexible, elongated profile to produce the Skerries Eel action that the original Skerries range became known for. This movement, combined with the lure's sandeel silhouette, is designed to mimic natural sandeel prey.

The inbuilt Sonic Chamber and micro rattle add an acoustic dimension to the lure's presentation, working alongside its profile, colour and movement rather than relying on visual attraction alone. At 35g, the lure carries more casting mass and sinking weight than the 22g version, useful for longer-range shore casting, headwinds, deeper water and stronger tidal flow, without stepping up to the larger 55g offshore model.
