The DUO Realis Pencil 110SW is a floating surface lure built specifically for saltwater sea bass fishing. It is a specially weight-tuned version of DUO's Realis Pencil range, developed to deliver a more controlled presentation than the standard freshwater-style pencil when fished in wind, waves and moving saltwater.

This saltwater-tuned construction gives the lure a distinctive walk-the-dog swimming action alongside sliding and waking surface movements, all backed up by an internal high-pitched clicking rattle that adds an audible element to the presentation.

Importantly, the 110SW is a different lure to the standard 20.5g Realis Pencil 110 and the 20.5g Silent model, so anglers should check they are buying the correct saltwater-weighted, rattling version for coastal bass fishing.

Perfect For

The DUO Realis Pencil 110SW is particularly well suited to surface lure fishing for bass around beaches, rocky shorelines, reef edges, estuary mouths and tidal currents.

It comes into its own when bass are feeding on or near the surface, especially when baitfish are being pushed upwards by hunting predators, making it a strong choice for exposed beach marks and other coastal venues where lighter surface lures can struggle to stay under control.

Technical Insight

DUO increased the weight of this saltwater version compared with the standard Pencil 110, reducing some of its buoyancy to help it sit more stably and cast more efficiently in choppy, wind-affected water. This additional weight also helps the aerodynamic body travel further through the air, letting anglers cover more water and reach fish feeding beyond the immediate surf.

The walk-the-dog action is generated by a protruding spherical feature beneath the lure's chin, which encourages the body to swing rhythmically from side to side in response to rod-tip movements. The same lure can also be worked with longer sliding pulls or a more subtle waking retrieve, while the internal clicking rattle adds a sound trigger alongside the visible surface disturbance.
