Mepps Aglia – Size 00

Overview

The Mepps Aglia Size 00 is an inline spinner weighing just 1.5g (1/18oz), making it the smallest standard size in Mepps' famous Aglia range. It features the brand's original French spinner design, built around the wide-running Aglia blade and a fitted treble hook.

What sets the Aglia apart from other Mepps patterns, such as the Comet, is its broader blade, which rotates at approximately 60° from the lure's body. This generates substantial vibration and flash, giving the lure a strong presence in the water despite its tiny size.

Each pack contains a single lure, supplied with its treble hook fitted and ready to use straight out of the packet.

Perfect For

At only 1.5g, the Aglia Size 00 is designed for genuinely ultralight fishing rather than general bass or shore-casting work. For UK sea anglers, this makes it a specialist choice for LRF (Light Rock Fishing) applications.

Its practical saltwater use is very close-range, such as fishing around harbour walls, pontoons and sheltered rock edges for small predatory species — provided it's paired with suitably light tackle to match the lure's delicate weight.

Technical Insight

The wide Aglia blade's approximately 60° rotation angle is the key to its performance, producing far more lift and vibration than narrower-bladed spinners like the Comet (around 45°) or the slimmer Aglia Long. This broader blade action allows the Size 00 to work effectively even at slow retrieve speeds, which is particularly useful when fishing finesse presentations around structure.

As no dedicated saltwater corrosion rating has been verified for this lure, it's worth rinsing it thoroughly with fresh water after every session, paying particular attention to the shaft, clevis and treble hook to keep it performing well over time.
