Technical Insight

The release mechanism is simple but effective: the hook is set firmly into the shield during rig preparation, with just enough retaining rubber used to stop the shield shifting in the wind during the cast. Once the rig impacts or enters the water, the shield lets go of the hook, allowing the bait and hooklength to fish freely away from the rig body.
