Gemini Juno Bait Clips

Overview

The Gemini Juno Bait Clip is a specialist sea-fishing bait clip from the Genie Rig System range, designed to positively lock the baited hook in position throughout the cast before releasing it when the rig hits the water. Unlike conventional open bait clips that rely heavily on snood tension to keep the hook attached, the Juno uses a locking-pin design.

This locking pin retains the hook during the cast, and the hook stays captured until the release mechanism operates on water impact. This positive retention is the defining feature that separates the Juno from a simple fixed bait clip, which depends entirely on snood tension keeping the hook against the clip.

Each pack contains 5 Juno Bait Clips, secured to the rig body with a crimp so they can be positioned wherever required. The clip is made in the UK, carries the manufacturer code G3017, and accommodates hooks from approximately Size 1 through to 8/0.

Perfect For

The Juno is suitable for Clipped Down, Clipped Up and Up & Over rigs, as well as single and multiple-snood setups, making it a versatile choice for rig building. It's particularly recommended for Off-The-Ground (OTG) casting, where the rig and lead move substantially before launch, so keeping the baited hook securely clipped through the whole casting motion matters.

Because the clip can accommodate two hooks depending on hook size and pattern, it's especially useful for Wishbone and long-range Bomber rigs where two hooks need retaining. It also suits anglers who find perfect snood-length matching difficult, since the locking action is less dependent on exact tension. It is not recommended for pulley rigs.

Technical Insight

Conventional open bait clips work by relying on snood tension pressing the hook against the clip, meaning any slack during the cast risks premature release. The Juno instead inserts the hook into a locking pin that physically retains it, only releasing when the release mechanism operates on impact with the water.

This means the hook remains locked even if the line goes slack during the cast or the trace is slightly too long, reducing bait flap, aerodynamic drag, casting-distance loss and tangles that can result from a hook releasing early. Multiple Junos can be fitted along a single rig body, allowing multi-hook rigs to secure several baits independently for the cast.
