Breakaway Universal Lead Lifts

Overview

The Breakaway Universal Lead Lift is an anti-snag sea fishing accessory fitted directly above the sinker to help keep your end tackle clear of the seabed. Its moulded fin shape catches the water on retrieve, causing the lead to plane upwards rather than drag along the bottom.

Each Lead Lift is mounted on a strong double-looped pin and supplied with an oval split ring, which is used to connect it to the sinker. This universal attachment means it isn't restricted to one particular Breakaway lead design, and Breakaway describes it as suitable for virtually any style of sea-fishing lead.

The Universal Lead Lift is sold two per pack and is available in Standard and Luminous versions, giving anglers the option of extra visibility for night or low-light sessions.

This lead lift is particularly useful when retrieving across rocky ground, kelp and weed, broken ground, snaggy ledges, and other tackle-hungry seabeds. Technical Insight

The design is simple: the fin-like shape of the Lead Lift generates upward lift as it moves through the water during the retrieve, lifting the sinker and attached rig away from the seabed rather than letting it be dragged along the bottom. Positioned directly above the sinker, in a rig sequence of Rig → Universal Lead Lift → Lead, it starts working as soon as retrieval begins.
