Overview

Overview

The INOVA Dongle Links are stainless steel rig-building components designed for anglers constructing their own clipped-down sea fishing dongle rigs. Supplied in packs of 10, each oval link measures 18mm x 6.5mm, offering a compact connection between a bait-carrying dongle and a compatible bait clip. Manufactured from stainless steel, they resist corrosion in saltwater environments and provide a durable option for anglers who tie their own rigs.

Unlike INOVA's complete Dongle Rig Kits, these are loose links only, with no hooks or pre-tied braid included, making them ideal for anglers who prefer full control over their braid, hook choice and bait arrangement. The links are the same style used within INOVA's pre-assembled kits, so they integrate naturally for anglers already familiar with that system.

Perfect For

Dongle rigs are particularly useful when fishing large natural baits that would otherwise obstruct the hook gape if threaded directly onto the hook. The INOVA Dongle Links are well suited to shore anglers targeting rays, smoothhounds, bull huss, bass and tope with substantial fish, squid or combination baits.

They're a practical choice for building clipped-down rigs for casting bulky baits from the beach, and for anglers who want to replace damaged links or prepare spare dongles ahead of a session.

Technical Insight

Each link's oval profile is designed to engage smoothly with popular bait clip systems, including Gemini Solo, Breakaway Imp and Breakaway Impact Leads, holding the baited dongle securely in its casting position until the clip releases on entry to the water. Because bait clip shapes and release mechanisms vary, anglers should always test their specific link-and-clip combination before fishing to confirm secure attachment and reliable release.

The stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance for saltwater use, though as with all terminal tackle, links should be rinsed after use and checked regularly for wear or damage. The breaking strain of the links themselves hasn't been independently verified, so anglers should match braid, hooks and rig components appropriately to the bait and casting demands of their chosen setup.

What is the difference between INOVA Dongle Links and the complete INOVA Dongle Rig Kit?

The Dongle Links are loose stainless steel components supplied in packs of 10, with no hooks or pre-tied braid included. The complete INOVA Dongle Rig Kit includes four pre-tied dongles with braid and circle hooks, giving a ready-to-use presentation with fewer additional components needed. The loose links are better suited to anglers who want to build their own assemblies from scratch.

Will these links work with my existing Breakaway or Gemini bait clips?

INOVA lists Gemini Solo, Breakaway Imp and Breakaway Impact Leads as compatible systems. However, fit should always be tested with your exact clip, rig and bait arrangement to confirm the dongle stays securely clipped during casting and that the release mechanism functions correctly on entry to the water. Other bait clips may also work, but compatibility shouldn't be assumed without testing.

Can I use these links with any braid or hook size?

The links can be incorporated into custom dongles, but the finished assembly must be appropriate for the bait, hook and casting requirements you're using. The breaking strain of the links themselves hasn't been verified, so don't assume they match the strength rating of the braid you attach. Use suitable knots and materials, and inspect and test each finished dongle before fishing.
