Gemini 45lb Snood Swivels

Overview

The Gemini Genie 45lb Snood Swivels are compact rolling swivels built specifically for connecting hook snoods and hooklengths to the main body of a sea-fishing rig.

Each swivel is rated to 45lb (approximately 20.4kg) and Gemini states they are tested up to this breaking strain to ensure safety. They're constructed from nickel-plated brass with neat, round eyes, giving corrosion resistant terminal tackle suited to marine use.

Supplied 25 to a pack under Gemini's product code G3803, these rolling swivels are sized deliberately small so they can be incorporated into multi-hook rigs without adding unwanted bulk along the rig body.

Perfect For

These swivels are ideal for shore anglers building their own sea rigs, including 1-up/1-down set-ups, 2 and 3-hook flapper rigs, clipped-down rigs, match rigs, scratching rigs, wishbone rigs and helicopter snoods.

A common method is to use them as a trapped swivel — arranged as crimp, bead, swivel, bead, crimp — so the swivel remains free to rotate on the rig body while the hook snood is tied directly to it.

They're also suitable for boat traces wherever a compact 45lb swivel is appropriate for the hooklength connection, following the same trace body–swivel–hooklength principle used in shore rigs.

Technical Insight

As a rolling swivel rather than a snap or large barrel swivel, this design allows the hook snood to rotate independently around the rig body, helping reduce line twist and tangling — particularly useful on multi-hook rigs where several swivels may feature on a single rig.

Gemini deliberately splits its swivel range by job: the 45lb Snood Swivel for hooklength connections, an 80lb Mainline Swivel for the top of the rig, and a 100lb Power Swivel for heavy pulley or long-range work. This means the 45lb version is sized correctly for lighter snood material rather than being over-engineered for a job it isn't intended for, keeping finished rigs neat while still offering plenty of rated strength for normal snood applications.
