INOVA Dongle Rig Kit2/0, 4/0, 6/0 & 8/0 - 300lb Braid & Circle Hooks

Overview

Overview

The INOVA Dongle Rig Kit is a specialist sea fishing rig kit built around four pre-tied dongles made from 300lb blood-red braid, supplied together with four circle hooks. Available in hook sizes 2/0, 4/0, 6/0 and 8/0, it gives anglers a ready-made way to prepare large-bait presentations without tying every dongle from scratch. The heavy braid gives a strong attachment point while remaining flexible enough to adjust to different bait sizes.

Rather than threading a bulky bait directly onto the hook, the dongle system separates bait and hook so the point and gape stay exposed. Each dongle can be shortened to suit the bait being presented, and a knot in the braid provides a useful stop point when securing softer baits with bait elastic. An oval link built into each dongle is designed to work with compatible bait clip systems for clipped-down shore rigs.

Perfect For

This kit suits sea anglers fishing large baits such as whole or sectioned mackerel, squid, fish and squid combinations, and large fish strip baits, for species including rays, smoothhounds, bull huss, tope and bass. It's equally at home in clipped-down shore rigs cast from the beach or in boat rigs targeting larger specimen fish and squid baits, where keeping bait and hook separated helps improve hook-up rates.

Shore anglers preparing clipped-down presentations for distance casting can use the oval dongle link with compatible bait clips, while boat anglers benefit from the extra separation between bait and hook when presenting bulky offerings. The four included circle hooks mean the kit is ready to fish straight from the packet, or anglers can swap in another suitable hook pattern if preferred.

Technical Insight

Each dongle is pre-tied from 300lb blood-red braid, strong enough to anchor large, bulky baits while staying flexible enough to be shortened for smaller presentations. Because the hooks are supplied loose rather than pre-attached, anglers can position the dongle on the hook exactly as required for their chosen bait and rig.

Circle hooks are included because their shape encourages hooking around the corner of the mouth when fished with a steadily tightening line rather than an aggressive strike, which can suit anglers practising catch and release - though no hook pattern can guarantee a particular hooking position. The 300lb rating describes the dongle braid itself rather than the breaking strain of the finished rig, so the rest of the trace and rig components still need to be matched to the target species and fishing conditions.
