Overview

The PENN Mag 4 multiplier is a magnetic casting multiplier reel purpose-built for long-range UK and European shore fishing, available in two sizes — the 515 and 525. Both share the same core technology: 6.1:1 gearing, 6+1 shielded stainless-steel bearings, a 9kg/20lb HT-100 drag system and PENN's Live Spindle free-floating spool.

A lightweight graphite frame and sideplates keep weight down to just 434g on the 515 and 439g on the 525, while a forged and machined aluminium spool and stainless-steel main and pinion gears, backed by CNC Gear Technology, provide the strength needed for demanding beach sessions.

The defining feature is PENN's adjustable magnetic braking system, controlled via an extended external adjustment knob rather than an internal dial, letting anglers fine-tune spool control on the fly without opening the reel.

PENN specifically recommends the 515 for tough-ground bass fishing and general beach work, thanks to its compact size and light weight, while the larger-capacity 525 is aimed at long-range beach fishing and mixed-ground fishing where heavier line is needed.
