Savage Gear SGS4 Lure Rod9ft 6in - 7-35g Fast Action

Overview

The Savage Gear SGS4 Precision Lure Specialist is a shore lure fishing rod built around a Japanese Toray carbon blank for fast-action, responsive performance. At 9ft 6in (approximately 2.90m), it's a longer lure rod designed for anglers casting from beaches, rock marks and other open coastal venues.

The two-piece blank carries a tubular tip, a Medium Heavy power rating and a smart matt blue finish. SeaGuide CCS guides and a Savage Gear Alien Lock-Down reel seat combine technical casting performance with dependable hardware that's built to handle repeated use.

Comfortable EVA handles make the rod easy to hold through long casting sessions, while an integrated lure keeper gives anglers a secure spot to park a lure when moving between marks. A cloth rod bag is included as standard for storage and transport.

Perfect For

With a 7-35g casting rating, the SGS4 Precision Lure Specialist covers a useful spread of lighter and medium-weight artificial lures, making it a versatile option for UK shore lure fishing. It's specifically geared towards sea bass lure fishing from the shore, where accurate casting and sensitive rod feedback make all the difference.

The rod is built to handle hard lures, soft plastics and metal lures within its rated range, so anglers can switch tactics - from hard-bodied minnows to soft plastics on jigheads - without reaching for a different rod. When pairing a jighead with a soft plastic, keep the combined weight within the 7-35g rating to get the best from the blank's casting performance.

Technical Insight

The Japanese Toray carbon blank is designed to deliver responsive handling, transmitting lure movements and subtle takes back through the fast-action blank so anglers can feel exactly what's happening at the business end. That same fast action helps drive hooksets home at range, which matters when working artificial lures on a tight line over open ground.

SeaGuide CCS guides keep the line running smoothly through the cast and retrieve, while the Savage Gear Alien Lock-Down reel seat locks the reel firmly in place through repeated casting. The tubular tip adds to the rod's lure-fishing sensitivity, setting it apart from solid-tip designs more commonly found on dedicated bait rods.
