Arno-Hooks Cascades - Match, Power & Clipless

Overview

Arno-Hooks Cascades are stainless-steel rig components designed for building clipped-down sea-fishing rigs, spanning the Match, Power and Clipless ranges.

Each cascade is essentially a swivel with a built-in hook-retention point, allowing several baited snoods on a multi-hook rig to be held close to the rig body during the cast. The conventional Match and Power Cascades are intended for stepped-up multi-hook clipped rigs, while the Clipless versions are purpose-built to form a streamlined top swivel sitting neatly in line with the rig body.

Across the range, cascades are available in 38kg (~84lb) Match strength or 54kg (~119lb) Power strength, manufactured from 316 stainless steel or, in the case of the standard Match Cascade, a Matte Black stainless-steel finish. All variants are supplied in packs of 10.

These cascades are aimed at anglers building 2-hook or 3-hook clipped-down beach and match rigs, where holding baited snoods close to the rig body reduces drag and improves the casting profile.

They suit match-style sea fishing and distance rigs where a streamlined, low-drag rig shape matters, as well as general multi-hook beach rig building. The Power Cascade steps up to heavier-duty clipped rigs, while the Clipless versions are aimed at anglers wanting a tidy, in-line top-swivel connection rather than a bulkier conventional swivel.

Technical Insight

The cascade works by incorporating a hook-retention point into a swivel connection, letting the clipping system be stepped down through a multi-hook rig. This keeps hooklengths and baits tucked close to the rig body during casting rather than trailing freely and creating drag, before the clipping system releases so the snoods fish normally once cast.

The Clipless Cascade takes a different approach, acting purely as the top swivel of the rig while sitting directly in line with the rig body for a clean, streamlined connection rather than functioning as an in-rig clipping point. Both the standard and Clipless ranges are built in 316 stainless steel, chosen for its corrosion resistance in saltwater environments, and the cascades are designed to work alongside Arno Rig Springs, which provide snood tension control to keep hooks correctly engaged with the cascade during the cast.
