Overview

The Gemini Genie 1.5mm Silicone Rig Tubing is a soft, flexible silicone tubing built for sea-fishing rig construction. Supplied in a continuous 1-metre length, it's genuine silicone rather than PVC or neoprene, giving it the pliability needed for close-fitting rig work.

The 1.5mm measurement refers to its internal diameter, making it a step up from Gemini's 1mm version and better suited to the heavier monofilament typically used for main rig bodies. It's available in Red and Blue, giving anglers a couple of options when building or colour-coding their traces.

Perfect For

This tubing is primarily intended for creating sliding stops on the main rig body, allowing components such as beads, swivels, snood assemblies and other attractors to be positioned along the trace without a permanent crimp. Because the stop remains adjustable, anglers can fine-tune the positioning of snoods and other components without rebuilding the whole rig.

It also works well as a stand-off, supporting a hooklength close to its connection point and helping keep it away from the main rig body. This makes it a useful addition when tying flapper rigs, scratching rigs and other multi-hook sea-fishing setups where reducing tangles between snood and trace is important.

Technical Insight

Using silicone rather than a crimp for a sliding stop means the rig body isn't permanently crushed at that point, so the stop can be adjusted if needed during rig building or between fishing sessions. This flexibility is particularly useful when experimenting with snood positions on a trace.

The soft, flexible nature of the silicone also allows it to be cut to whatever length is required for each stop or stand-off, meaning a single 1-metre length can be used across numerous rigs. Because only small sections are typically needed per rig, this makes it an economical, multi-use rig-building component for sea anglers.
