Gemini SRT Spring

Overview

The Gemini Genie SRT Spring is a specialist snood tension component designed for clipped sea-fishing rigs, helping anglers keep hooklengths correctly positioned during powerful casts.

Built around the idea that snood line is normally lighter than the main rig body, the spring compresses under casting load to reduce the amount of stretch transferred to the hooklength. This helps the snood maintain its original length cast after cast, rather than gradually lengthening until it can no longer be clipped down correctly.

Each Gemini Genie SRT Spring pack, product code G3015, contains 10 complete set-ups made up of springs, beads and crimps, making it a ready-to-use rig-building component rather than a simple bag of loose springs.

Perfect For

SRT Springs are particularly suited to long-range clipped shore rigs, where secure hook retention, minimal snood stretch and reliable release after the cast all matter. They work with both clipped-up and clipped-down rig configurations.

They're also well suited to multi-hook clipped rigs, such as 2-hook or 3-hook set-ups, where each individual snood station needs to stay correctly tensioned throughout the cast. For a simple flapper rig where hooks fly freely, there's normally little need for an SRT Spring.

Technical Insight

The spring is incorporated into the snood connection so that it compresses when casting tension is applied, absorbing movement that would otherwise stretch the lighter snood line relative to the heavier rig body.

That same stored compression also keeps the hook under controlled tension within the bait clip during flight, then helps the snood and hook move cleanly away from the clip when the bait-release system operates — described by Gemini as dynamic release. This combination of stretch reduction, clip tension and controlled release is what separates the SRT Spring from a generic stainless rig spring.
