Overview

Sunset Amnesia Red is a memory-free monofilament line built specifically for sea-fishing hook snoods, traces and rig construction. It shares the same low-memory, tangle-resistant core as the Clear and Black versions in the Amnesia range, but with a highly visible red finish for easier handling and rig identification.

The line is made in the USA and is not fluorocarbon — its main selling point is the memory-free behaviour rather than any refractive properties. If a snood becomes coiled or twisted on the spool, Amnesia can simply be straightened with a firm pull, helping traces sit cleanly rather than retaining tight coils.

Alongside its low memory, Amnesia offers good knot strength and good abrasion resistance, both important qualities for snood material that is tied directly to hooks, swivels and clips and which regularly contacts the seabed and fish.

Perfect For

Amnesia Red suits a wide range of shore and boat sea-fishing rigs, including flapper rigs, clipped rigs, pulley rigs, Pulley Pennels, paternosters and boat traces. Its tangle resistance and easy-straightening nature make it particularly practical for hooklengths that need to run cleanly on the cast or drop.

The red colouration is highly visible to the angler when tying and handling rigs, and heavier strengths of the line can also be used as rig-body material rather than just snoods. Veals also notes that the coloured red finish can add attraction and can sometimes work well when targeting plaice and other flatfish.
