anyfish anywhere 14’ Six&Bait mk2 fixed spool

Overview

The Anyfish Anywhere Six&Bait MK2 14ft Fixed Spool is a beachcaster rod built as a genuine all-round workhorse for UK shore anglers. Carrying the exact distributor code AN-6B14FS, this is the dedicated fixed-spool version within the Six&Bait MK2 range, distinct from the multiplier-specific model.

The 14ft blank is made up of two equal sections and weighs 820g, with a manufacturer casting rating of 150–175g. The Six&Bait name itself reflects the rod's core design concept: handling a 6oz lead plus bait, the classic working weight for general UK beach fishing.

Finished with a sliding reel seat and an X-wrap/textured shrink butt finish, the rod is built to feel both capable and comfortable through long sessions on the beach, whether fishing reel-up or reel-down.

Perfect For

Published descriptions of the Six&Bait MK2 consistently position it as a genuine multi-purpose beachcaster rather than a specialised rod for one style of fishing. It's designed to cope with different venues, ground types, rigs and species, from substantial Pennell rigs baited with crab and mussel for cod fished off rocks, through to 3-hook clipped rigs targeting whiting and dabs from open beach marks.

It's associated with general and mixed-ground shore fishing, including winter cod sessions on rougher terrain, and is linked by retailers to cod, rays, smoothhounds, whiting and other general beach species — making it a sensible choice for anglers who fish a variety of UK marks rather than one fixed venue.

Technical Insight

The fixed-spool version is specified with Fuji BCMSVOG guides, which differ from the Fuji BCMNOG guides fitted to the multiplier model — a deliberate distinction by Anyfish Anywhere to match guide configuration to reel type. The sliding reel seat allows the reel's position to be adjusted along the handle, giving anglers the option to fish reel-up or reel-down depending on preference.

Despite its casting power, the blank is described as loading progressively, with a parabolic-powered butt blending into a strong middle section rather than behaving like an overly stiff casting rod. This is combined with a tip sensitive enough for clear bite indication, even while retaining the stiffness needed to cope with stronger tidal conditions.
